This month's topic is: Introduction to the Oregon Community Risk Assessment Fire Tools (OrCRAFT)

  • This session introduces participants to the Oregon Community Risk Assessment Fire Tools (OrCRAFT), a statewide application developed by the Oregon State Fire Marshal to support fire agencies and emergency planners in datainformed community risk reduction. OrCRAFT evaluates the likelihood and potential impact of fires using historical incident data, demographics, infrastructure, and fire service response considerations. The session provides an overview of the tool, demonstrates how to access and navigate its key features, and highlights practical, realworld examples showing how OrCRAFT can support planning, prioritize vulnerabilities, and guide targeted interventions in local communities.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Gain a Foundational Understanding of OrCRAFT - Participants will gain an understanding of the purpose of OrCRAFT, the data and risk components it evaluates, and how it supports Oregon’s community risk reduction approach.
    2. Learn How to Access and Navigate OrCRAFT - Participants will learn how to log in, select geographical areas, explore available layers, and use core features in both the standard and analyzer versions of the tool.
    3. Examine RealWorld Applications of OrCRAFT - Participants will review practical examples showing how OrCRAFT can inform planning efforts, identify vulnerabilities, support targeted prevention strategies, and guide resource allocation based on local and regional needs to help inform their own potential use.
