Who We Are

The Oregon Fire Marshals Association is made up of fire code officials, industry leaders, and individuals that are dedicated to the protection of life and property against fire.  We are committed to providing opportunities for education and discussion on current fire and life safety issues.  We are a voice for the improvement and understanding of fire codes and standards.  You are invited to join us and contribute to the success of this association.

    OFMA Lunch & Learn - Free to OFMA/OBOA Members - earn one hour of ICC continuing education credit for attending this free virtual training.  

    Join us for the 2nd OFMA Lunch & Learn, in partnership with OSFM.

    This months topics is: Residential Care Facilities and Adult Foster Care Homes as it relates to Chapter 4 – Emergency Planning and Preparedness.

    • Class Description: 
      • This class highlights the emergency planning and preparedness requirements associated with Child Care Facilities and Adult Foster homes as it relates to the Oregon Fire Code. 
      • The class will cover:
        • the different occupancies that have 24-hour care and how to navigate how each occupancy classification appropriately.   
        • automatic Sprinkler systems as it relates to Residential Care Facilities.
        • fire evacuation drill requirements for Residential Care Facilities.
      • Emphasis will be placed on requirements outlined within Chapter 4 and Appendix R of the Oregon Fire Code.
    • Learning Objectives:
      • By the end of this class:
        • attendees will be able to determine the correct occupancy classification for the facility that is providing 24-hour care when they conduct their fire and life safety inspection.
        • attendees will be able to understand when automatic fire sprinkler systems are required or not required and be able to communicate with the Building Official when conducting their fire and life safety inspection.
        • attendees will be able to determine when fire evacuation drills are required and be able to communicate those requirements to the facility during their fire and life safety inspection.
